In the early 1980’s, the senior shareholders of Pinoy Express were OFW’s in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Company had over 2,000 Filipino workers who have no way to remit their earnings. Most of the workers don’t have bank accounts with door-to-door delivery as their only option. During that time, Remittance Services was not a controlled activity and anyone was free to engage in the business.

Seeing the opportunity, our group in 1985 formed Pinoy Express, a cargo company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to provide both cargo and door-to-door remittance services with family members initially handing the Philippine operations. From a modest start, Pinoy Express expanded its operations Kingdom-wide opening new branches in Khobar, Dammam, Jubail, and Yanbu. In the Philippines, ASPAC Delivery Services, a sole proprietorship entity, was formed to handle local operations.

When the Gulf war broke-out in 1990, our operations in the Kingdom were suspended. To ensure continuity of the business, we established overseas Remittance Companies in Singapore, Hong Kong, Saipan, and Palau and later in Austria. Subsequently, our operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were absorbed by Al Omary Exchange to legitimize our operations. The latter was terminated when Al Omary Exchange merged with other exchanges to form Al Bilad Bank.

The 9/11 New York incident brought about the implementation of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML-CFT) act globally. In the Philippines, BSP issued Circular NO. 471 to regularize companies engaged in remittance activities. Given the opportunity for Private Remittance Companies to be recognized as a legitimate sector of the economy (as against an “informal sector”) Pinoy Express deemed it necessary to re-organized into a Corporate Entity in 2005 under its present registered name of PINOY EXPRESS Hatid Padala Services, Inc. Subsequently the Company was accredited by BSP as Remittance Agent (RA).

To generate additional revenues, the Company entered into Agreements with banks as service provider/courier for “Other Banks” transactions. Pinoy Express is continually seeking to expand its business locally with banks and abroad with foreign principals.

Now, Pinoy Express, has a stream-lined world-wide operations powered by state-of-the-art, web-based Integrated Remittance System offering a full range of remittance services.
